Aloha kakou,
Applications are still available for our Manowai o Hanakahi summer sessions!! Applications are due: Monday, May 23rd and are available from the link below, and from our offices in Keaukaha and Hilo. Mahalo for spreading the word!
The Pacific Aquaculture & Coastal Resources Center is offering a new environmental summer program out of UHH PACRC. This is a 1-week, day-program designed to expose haumana to modern and traditional ways of approaching coastal and marine resource management in Hawaii. Amongst other things, participants can expect to engage in group research projects and service learning in the Hilo area. This is a FREE program, but participants must commit to the full week and have transportation to the PACRC site in Keaukaha and back home each day.
There are 20 slots per session, 2 sessions offered this summer:
Session 1: June 13 – June 17 (Mon – Fri)
Session 2: June 27 – July 1 (Mon – Fri)
The program is targeting incoming 8th grade Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island students that frequent coastal and marine areas for recreation, sustenance and practice. Please pass on this opportunity to anyone you feel may work with this target audience.
We are available for questions on the program and/or application, contact Erika or Niegel at 933-0707, hperry@hawaii.edu or niegelrozet@gmail.com. The application and program poster are available from our offices (1079 Kalaniana’ole Ave OR 891 Ululani Street in Hilo, Maluhia Building, Room 104) or online at:
